10 Ways of saving our skin against pollution

You know the rule- apply sunscreen 20 minutes before stepping out in the sun. But, if you wear a moisturiser 10 minutes before applying the sunscreen, your skin wouldn’t turn dry. Also, make it a point to not step out of shade between 12 noon and 3:00 p.m. when the sun is at its peak.

The face is the least covered part of the body compared with the rest of it and this puts the former at a much higher risk of becoming dry and dirty. The solution is washing your face several times a day. It is not necessary to use a face wash every time you wash, but using only water to clean your face will help retain the moisture on the face.

Your skin needs to be replenished from inside, and for that, you will need to drink a lot of water. Make sure you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and replace caffeine, alcohol and tea with flavoured water such as lime water.

Clean your face daily to remove the dirt stuck to it because of pollution. You should carry a cleanser and some cotton pods in your bag to keep your skin clean even on the go. Even at night, ensure that you cleanse your face before sleeping.

Every woman should scrub her face at least once a week. It ensures that all the dead cells piling up the skin are removed and the lost lustre comes back. A scrub with sunscreen is a better option to use than a normal scrub.

For a healthy and radiant skin, you must add nuts, juicy fruits, oily fish and green vegetables to your diet. A diet rich in all these elements fulfils the need of lost water in your body and the moisture in skin remains intact.
